INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

I had been Incharge of the GIK Library automation team and automated the lib in short span of 20 months.

The soft ware used is EOSi (Electronic on‑Line system international) Manger series version 7.1 has been compiled in clipper language. Integration of EOSi modules for LAN is Novell Netware 4.10 based. It is compatible with the AACR‑2, US MARC and 39.50 code have been used in it. The data has been presented in international acceptable standard for the exchange of Bibliographic information. The data has been classified by DDC 21 Ed. It consists of the following four modules:-

1. Cataloguing
2. Circulation
3. Data Bridge
4. OPAC (On‑Line public Access Catalogue). It is for the first time introduced in
USA. This is the most important innovation of the modern computer age. It is a tremendous time saving
device for students and teachers. It has a Window of 12 searching points for a single book, including the
status of the book weather it is in library or issued.

The MARC (Machine readable catalogue) records are imported from the LCB (Library of Congress
Bibliography) to the EOSi through the Data bridge module,

This software has also been in use in the American Centers Network.
